Baptism Celebration
Our next Baptism Celebration is Sunday morning, March 25th. If you are ready to take this next step, contact the church office (546-4818) no later than Sunday, March 4th.
Membership Class
We are offering a membership class for adults & youth on Sunday, March 11th. Pastor Jeff teaches this 4 hour class (2:00-6:00 p.m.) and many have said it’s surprisingly pain-free and the time passes quickly! During the class, we’ll spend the afternoon talking about Jesus’ dream for His church and then wrap up the day with a light meal. This class is a required step in our membership process. If you’re new, we’d like to encourage you to attend the First Step Class on Sunday mornings first.
To help us plan, please let us know by March 5th if you are attending. Childcare is available upon request, but we must know of your need by March 5th. To sign up for the class, make a note on your communication card or call the church office (546-4818).
Trivia Night Youth Benefit!
Come have tons of fun while supporting our students on Saturday, March 3rd (5:00 – 9:00 p.m.) at The Rock. The night kicks off at 5:00 p.m. with food, and trivia starts promptly at 6:00 p.m. Get your teams of 5-8 together ($10/person) now as we have limited space available for this benefit. You can also choose to pick up your meal and not stay for trivia. Items from the café will be on sale during the trivia portion of the night. All funds go to help our youth go to camps and mission trips. Sign-up envelopes are at the Ministry Center and can be turned in to the church office.
Scholarship Time!
Cherry Hills feels it is important to encourage our college students to be salt and light on their campuses. The Nelsen scholarship annually awards students for maintaining a Christ-centered lifestyle and becoming an active part of a campus Christian organization or local church ministry. The Nelsen Scholarship is open to any full-time student entering their junior or senior year of college.
Cherry Hills also feels it is important to encourage and support students who have been called to full-time Christian service, such as pastoral or missionary service. The Christian Service Scholarship is open to college juniors or seniors, graduate students, or individuals attending specific service training programs.
All scholarship applicants must be members of Cherry Hills, and students may not receive both scholarships. All application materials must be submitted to the church office no later than March 30, 2012.
If you would like to help our college students by designating a monetary gift to either of these two scholarship funds, please feel free to do so.
Serve a Meal!
Serving a meal is one of the easiest and most rewarding ways to Serve the World right here in Springfield. Groups are needed to serve meals at Contact Ministries on the first Tuesday of every month and at the Salvation Army Shelter on the third Wednesday of every month. Each group has the option of both preparing and serving the meal or picking up a “ready-to-go” meal at the church. Helpful kids of all ages are welcome to serve with their parents.
