Sunday morning worship services are very important, but not enough if we’re going to really grow spiritually.  Here’s another way you can learn and grow and get connected at Cherry Hills.

Next Step

Teachers: Ken & Malia Macken and Catherine Broadbooks
10:45 a.m., Room E204

If you’re new to Cherry Hills, or even if you have been coming for several years but have never moved beyond Sunday morning worship services, this class is a great opportunity to help you take your “next step” into our church family. You’ll have the chance to meet each pastor and staff member, ask questions, make new friends & learn about some of our church’s core values and beliefs.

Marriage Class

Teachers: Kirk & Anita Boyenga and Dirk & Sarah Homeier
10:45 a.m. Rooms: E205-E206

We all know what is required to fall in love…a pulse.  Falling in love is easy, but staying there, that’s something else entirely.  Finding romantic matches in our culture has never been easier than it is today, but staying together with the one you have found seems to be the real challenge for many.  Is it possible for two people to fall in love, stay there and actually grow in that love for a lifetime?  Absolutely.  Learn what God’s Word has to say in a four-session video and discussion series featuring Andy Stanley.  The class welcomes anyone wanting to learn about relationships: married, engaged, single or those wanting to help others.  Join us for this session in the continuing series of “Good-to-Great” classes offered by the Cherry Hills Marriage Ministry.

The Book Of Romans

Teacher: Eric Woolbright
9:15 a.m. Rooms: E205-E206

Romans is known to be the most foundational book in the New Testament and covers the basics of Christian theology.  We’ll look at the scriptures, then dig deeper through cross-referencing and focusing on key topics found that day.  We then close with a discussion of each topic.  We look forward to studying God’s Word together!

Tough Questions

Teacher: Greg Heckel
10:45 a.m. Room: E206

If you think you have to check your brain at the church door, you need to do a bit more research.  Jesus never said, “Follow me, chump!”  For 8 weeks, we’ll tackle some of the toughest questions asked of Christianity and see if there are answers.  We’ll put the claims of Jesus’ resurrection to the test.  We’ll find out why you can’t claim the Bible is the Word of God just because “it says so.”  We’ll even challenge the existence of a supposedly good God who seems to look on as destruction, disease, and death are all around us.  No question or topic is off the table.  In fact, you’re encouraged to bring some tough questions of your own.  It doesn’t matter if you’re not sure about this Jesus stuff or if you’ve been a believer for 30 years, this class will give you something to think about and hopefully some answers to your “tough questions

The Book of Nahum

Teacher: Max Louderman
9:15 a.m. Rooms E201-E203

The Kingdom Builders Class is following up our study of Jonah with a series of lessons from the book of Nahum. God used Jonah to send a message to the Assyrians at Nineveh which resulted in the Ninevites turning from their evil and violent ways and God repenting from destroying them. Their innocent ways didn’t last very long and God uses the Prophet Nahum to tell of their destruction which did occur some time later. Our study centers around the character of God, His justice, grace and mercy, and speaks to us and our culture just as it did to the Assyrians. It should be helpful in understanding how God may be looking at our nation at the present time.  Everyone is welcome.

The Parables Of Jesus

Teacher: Ken Mitchell
9:15 a.m. Room: Youth Center Cafe

The stories Jesus told were full of the ordinary happenings of everyday life — being invited to a wedding, seeing a tree grow, searching for something lost, baking bread with some yeast, sitting down to a feast, planting seed, watching children play in the street, working in a field during harvest, celebrating a special occasion, having a guest show up unexpectedly when you are unprepared, etc.  These stories that we call parables seem so simple and yet so profound at the same time.  How should we understand them?  What can they teach us about living as Jesus’ followers today?

If we want to be fully-committed followers of Jesus, we need to take his teaching seriously.  We need to understand it fully and obey it faithfully.  His stories are an invitation to join him in the adventure of eternal life here and now.  We will be exploring these stories one by one, placing them in the context of everyday life in Jesus’ day and in the broader context of His message.  It should be a rewarding challenge.

During this class we will explore the ways in which Jesus’ parables overlap and intersect with our own stories as believers and as a community of faith.  Our class uses limited lecture and very open discussion.  We value and appreciate the viewpoint and input of every participant.  Please feel free to join us as we try to discover together how to apply these stories from God’s Word to our lives.

Women’s Bible Study

Teacher: Kay Titchenal
9:15 a.m. Room: E204

We will begin an eleven-week study of Crazy Love by Francis Chan.  The description of the book (taken from the cover) is that God is love and He loves us with a radical, unconditional, self-sacrificing love.  If you are hungry for an authentic faith that addresses the problems of our world with tangible, even radical solutions – God is calling you to a passionate love relationship with Himself.  Once you encounter His love, as Francis Chan describes it, you will never be the same.  Because when you are wildly in love with someone, it changes everything!

If you already have a copy of the book, then you are all set – if you need a copy, you may obtain one in class for $3.00 to help offset some of the cost.  The first week will be an overview and discussion of the introduction and lay-out of the book.  This will allow you to be up-to-speed from the beginning of the study.  The class is open to all women in the church, single or married, in any age group.

The Book of Hebrews

Teacher: Mike Drummond and David King
10:45 a.m. Rooms E201-E202

No New Testament epistle more strongly emphasizes the authority of Scripture and its importance than the Book of Hebrews. It challenges us to live by faith with practical examples, it has many words of hope and encouragement, it has sobering words of warning for those who disregard God’s Word, and it encourages intimate fellowship with our Lord Jesus.  Join us for an in-depth, verse-by-verse study of Hebrews.
