Thank You Offering – December 2, 2018
One of our traditions at Cherry Hills is our annual Mission Thank You Offering we take each year around Thanksgiving. This is a time when we pause to thank God for all He has done for us and respond by giving to missions outside the walls of our church. This offering will be collected on Sunday, December 2nd, in lieu of our normal benevolence offering. If you want to give, but can’t be here, you can still give anytime during November. You can make checks payable to Cherry Hills and designate “Special Offering.” This year we are excited to let you know that the recipients of the offering consists of both a local partner and an international missionary: The James Project and Paul Rollet.
One of the missions of The James Project is to provide larger houses for committed foster parents who feel called to take a larger number of children into their family than their current house allows. At this time, they have 4 homes (4-5 bedrooms and 3 baths) in family friendly neighborhoods with 4-6 children being cared for in each family. Although one of our homes is already dedicated to teenagers, there is an ongoing need for more loving places for teens, including a place for teen moms. Their newest fostering couple, Dion and Lisa Crites, have a heart for teen girls who are in danger of aging out of the system without a forever family, without knowing Jesus and without the skills and confidence to pursue a meaningful future. The Crites want to be that family anchor and they have a lot of experience guiding young people in need.
The James Project recently found a great house for this purpose and they are currently raising money to pay for this house, which is in the Franklin Park subdivision.
Paul Rollet serves with Companion With The Poor. CWTP is an organization that reaches out to the poorest communities in Metro Manila, Philippines by planting churches. CWTP is building a training center for missionaries and church planters who will be sent into Manila, Asia and the rest of the world. This new training center will allow the organization to hold meetings, trainings, workshops, counseling and conferences in addition to serving the administrative functions of CWTP. The training center will also include a chapel that will be a place of prayer.
Thanks in advance for your prayerful consideration.
